For Young Artists
The Art Workshop offers term time courses for young people from the age of 7-12 years. Children work in small groups of around 10 following a programme of work specially devised by the Workshop's team of qualified tutors. Each session lasts for an hour between 4 and 5pm, either on a Monday or Thursday, or on a Saturday at 9.15-10.15am.

From an approach based on developing drawing and observational skills the children are helped to try a range of different techniques and materials and to learn about the work of artists either from the History of Art or those in contemporary practice. Children are encouraged to develop creative thinking. to use their imagination, to grow their confidence, persistence, and their ability to solve problems. They are helped to analyse their work and discuss it with their peers in a supportive atmosphere that enables them to achieve to the best of their ability.
Art for the Holidays
During Half terms and holidays the Art Workshop runs Creative Kids sessions for children between the ages of 7 and 13. These are open to all daily and are fun but well structured workshops where children learn through drawing games and creativity exercises as well as completing a finished piece in a range of media.  Younger children aged 5 and 6 can join the Workshop for an hour of Art suited to their age group with content developed specifically for each session. They can experiment with appropriate materials and produce a portfolio of work to take home with the help of our team of tutors.

Taking bookings for Summer Workshops 2017.  Every Mon, Tues Weds and Thurs for the first four weeks of the Summer Holidays. Begins week  Mon-Thurs from 24th July,  weeks  Mon-Thurs from 31st July, Mond-Thurs from 7th August, Mon-Thurs from 14th August.  Choose any dates as all sessions can be booked individually. Group Willow and Paper Lantern making At The Art Workshop, Rhiwbina

Monday  24th October 10- 1pm,   or Tuesday  25th October 10-1pm,

Friday 28th October 10 – 1pm

Come and learn to make exciting large Willow and Paper sculpture lanterns with Hollie Roberts, ready for the Rhiwbina Christmas Festival Lantern Parade on December 3rd.  3 hour workshops designed for adults and older children, great family activity– bring a relative!  Price £25 per group lantern made, (not per person)  including materials and LED light. One adult at least required per booking for this type of workshop.

NEW: Lantern Decorating for younger people in The Wendy House

New for 2016: Lantern Decorating in the Wendy House with Sinead Attewell. For ages 5-8. One hour sessions to design your own beautiful decoration scheme for paper lanterns in the magical Wendy House, Rhiwbina's grade II listed mini house in the historic Garden Village. Just a step away from the Art Workshop studios, we are delighted to be able to host lantern decorating here this year. make your lantern ready for Halloween or for the Rhiwbina Christmas Festival.  Price £10 including all materials, lantern and safe LED light.
