For Young Artists

The Art Workshop offers term time courses for young people from the age of 7-12 years. Children work in small groups of around 10 following a programme of work specially devised by the Workshop's team of qualified tutors. Each session lasts for an hour between 4 and 5pm, either on a Monday or Thursday, or on a Saturday at 9.15-10.15am.

From an approach based on developing drawing and observational skills the children are helped to try a range of different techniques and materials and to learn about the work of artists either from the History of Art or those in contemporary practice. Children are encouraged to develop creative thinking. to use their imagination, to grow their confidence, persistence, and their ability to solve problems. They are helped to analyse their work and discuss it with their peers in a supportive atmosphere that enables them to achieve to the best of their ability.

Please note: This year the Rhiwbina Christmas Lantern Parade will not be taking place. After seven years of parades, the Village's One Rhiwbina Committee has made a decision to have a pause this year, to allow time while they reorganise the structure the Village's two annual Festivals and other activities. So we're sorry but there won't be any of our usual Christmas Lantern making workshops this half term, but we will be making some fantastic Halloween inspired Art instead in our regular half term Creative Kids sessions.  If you need more information on the decision to pause the Parade this year please contact Rhiwbina Events Committee on Facebook, which is chaired by Eleanor Sanders. The Rhiwbina Christmas Festival is still going ahead on Saturday November 30th.
