Whether you’re an avid sketcher or you haven’t picked up a pencil in years we aim to make our drawing courses work for you. With a wealth of techniques to explore you will enjoy an enriched understanding and experience of drawing. Each session will help you engage in traditional and experimental drawing methods designed to introduce a new way of ‘seeing.’
You will learn processes to help you loosen up your style, rewarding you with a fresh view on drawing. You will be encouraged to work in a variety of media and on different surfaces. Guidance on materials. will be given at your first session, just bring along pens, pencils and an A3 sketchbook. Various materials are also available to purchase at The Art Workshop.

Thanks to Gen and Karen for teaching me so much . I really look forward to my oil painting and textile classes and the support and friendship of all. So much effort has been made to keep things going even during lockdown via zoom sessions. I love it.

Came for a taster day and was hooked! Karen O’Shea inspires and gives us all the confidence to observe, experiment and create. Considering I couldn’t thread a sewing machine a year ago I’m pretty proud I am now confidently using free machine embroidery in my pieces. Karen signposts us to textile artists and is always encouraging and positive in her response to our work. Just love every session!

...’ Having not attended the drawing workshop before .. I was interested to see what would unfold .. I have to say I have already learnt so much now in class 5 ... about Art History and artist techniques from our teacher Gen it has amazed me. You also have time during each class to explore the style with your own drawings.... I love it and will be booking my place for the next course as soon as this finishes.’ ...

From a young age both of my daughters have attended weekly workshops with Gen, Petra and now Imogen. They have learnt a lot about artists and styles, created art that we're proud to hang in our home, and, most of all, been nurtured in a welcoming and caring art community. Thanks Gen, Petra and Imogen

... “now going into my third year of watercolour courses... which probably says it all! .... I never tire of Kate’s teaching and continue to learn so much .... I love her artistic style and the effort she puts into each weeks teaching - showing us the painting stages and we leave every week with written up notes too.... which enables you to recreate the work in your our time. I certainly have learnt so much from her and would definitely recommend her class ... I am looking forward to booking up again for the next course term.”

I've loved being part of the Tuesday acrylics class and the Saturday morning drawing class. People are so welcoming and the teachers make art come alive! I would definately recommend for all ages and levels.

The Art Workshop is such a lovely, friendly place in which to learn. Doing the Textile Art course has pushed me out of my comfort zone but Karen and Gen have been so supportive and given me so much encouragement. Experimenting with paint, pencils, threads, fabric and natural materials has been so much fun!
